Welcome dear

This year is apparently characterized in the cosmic readings as the chaos cycles—and we’ve certainly noticed. So, how to cope with the chaos? Step by step, I suppose. One step feels manageable, and then the next follows.

In the collective field, we all carry our own purpose. Just thinking of Rumi and his poems makes time feel irrelevant—these verses are truly timeless.

We’re gearing up for our Hiking Caravan, and Sedat is busy organizing the logistics. Meanwhile, I’m getting ready to put what we’ve learned into practice—making grocery lists for the upcoming Hiking Caravan event.

One thing we learned from the last time is that preparation makes all the difference. After hiking 20 kilometers, painting, and marking the route, we're all in need of some rest. Having everything ready to start cooking is incredibly practical, and appoint the chef!

Love,
Sufi Trail team ❤

INVITATION: hiking caravan 2026 – The Sufi Trail Adventure in Turkey

Dear adventurer, seeker and nature lover,

Have you always dreamed of a journey where philosophical moments go hand in hand with a brisk walking rhythm? Where you are chased by friendly street dogs and existential questions? Then the hiking caravan 2026 – Edition Sufi Trail is exactly what you need!

After Victor's legendary report, we know for sure: this is no ordinary walking tour. This is a pilgrimage for the soul (and ankles). You don't just walk 800 km to Konya - you survive it.

So, daredevils and seekers: put June 2026 in your agenda. Come for the miles, stay for the chaos, the tea invitations from locals and the inevitable hamam experience refreshing as a plunge pool, meet your fellow travellers and immerse yourself in the flowery Turkish landscape.

Practical information:

Where: From home to Istanbul, because the plane won't wait. And then walk to Konya. 801 km in 40 walking days.

When: May 1 to June 12, 2026 - because May and June are the flower months.

What to bring? A smile, a dose of patience, and a tent for the wild nights.

Register before the walking caravan is full. Because one thing is for sure: this will be a journey to remember. Or, as Rumi would say: "The journey is the destination - but bring snacks."

Only 1spot left. (a couple is also welcome)
See you on the trail! 🌄🐕🍟

Roelant Meijer – The Sufi Trail

The Sufi Trail inspired Dutch artist Roelant Meijer to create an art project centered on the people he met along his journey. He began by preparing for the 800-kilometer hike, crafting handwritten cards inscribed with poems by Mevlana Rumi. Over the course of 40 days, he handed a card to everyone he encountered. Each moment of giving was photographed, and these images became the Sufi Portraits. Roelant eventually compiled the collection into a book featuring all 40 portraits. The exhibition toured successfully throughout the Netherlands, and he also gave a lecture in Spain, where he read three portraits from the book.

Only 200 copies of the Dutch edition were printed. Now, to bring the project full circle after the exhibition in Izmir, Roelant has produced a Turkish edition of the book. These copies are meant to be handed over to the people who were part of the original artwork. We will begin our hiking caravan carrying a large box filled with these treasures, hoping to find the individuals who received a Rumi card years ago and present them with their own copy of The Sufi Portraits. Roelant gave us a beautiful document with all the details of the meetings and the villages where they took place. We hope to bring smiles to 40 people by giving them the gift of the art piece they helped create. The Sufi Portraits are truly one of a kind—with a deep bow of gratitude to Roelant for originating such an extraordinary whirl of love.

You can order your copy of the Turkish translated book here.

The book by David Jury – Footsteps on Ancient Roads

The third part is a true treasure—every page, every step, unfolds with such tenderness and grace. The gentle, knowing prose guides you along the Anatolian Sufi Trail in a way no guidebook ever could, weaving history and soul into one mesmerizing journey. It captivated us completely. We truly hope you’ll find the time to lose yourself in it, just as we did.

Davide Travelli ~ on the Sufi Trail ❤️

Davide took on the formidable Sufi Trail—a hiking route—with his bike fully loaded for adventure. His journey was a true test of resilience, made even more challenging by a hernia, bicycle troubles, a rocky fall, and a wildfire!

Despite it all, he triumphed, and this year he gifted us an incredible 5-hour film capturing every detail of that epic hike-a-bike journey. Thank you, Davide, for being our inspirational cycling star!

Cycling the world - Asia: Bonus episode Istanbul to Konya, following a thin line of dust, faith, and stubborn curiosity known as the Sufi Trail: ride to the light, hike to the light. A simple motto but nothing about this route is simple. It begins in Istanbul and runs close to 800 kilometres across Anatolia to the mausoleum of Rumi in Konya, stitching together villages, forests, ridges, dry plateaus, and long quiet spaces where the mind has too much room to wander. This was my second time on the Sufi Trail, in 2019 I rode the cycling route. This time I chose the harder conversation and bikepacked the hiking route, loaded bike and all, where the climbs are steeper, the trail often disappears, and forward motion is something you negotiate rather than assume.
