Stay ahead and discover what’s new in the world of technology, components, and modules.

Foreword

In this Sensors and Vision edition, we highlight solutions across the full sensing chain. From camera modules and ToF sensing to pressure and proximity solutions, system performance is defined by how data is captured and processed. Selecting the right components early helps balance accuracy, integration, and power requirements.

TOP-electronics supports your design with technology comparison, design-in guidance and component selection.

Flexible camera modules for embedded vision designs

Selecting the right camera module goes beyond the sensor. Interface, optics, field of view, mechanical fit, platform support, and image tuning all need to align to ensure smooth integration.

TOP-electronics supports OEMs with custom embedded camera modules ranging from 0.3 MP to 200 MP, with interfaces including:

- USB
- MIPI CSI-2
- GMSL
- DVP
- SPI

For applications such as industrial inspection, robotics, kiosks, access control, and smart retail, this flexibility allows engineers to match the imaging system to the application.

Configuration options

- Rolling or global shutter
- HDR support
- Low-light optimization
- Monochrome sensors
- IR-pass / IR-cut variants

These options help align optics, interface, and platform compatibility early in the design process.

Thermal imaging for embedded sensing

Meridian Innovation develops advanced LWIR thermal imaging solutions based on its patented SenXor™ CMOS technology. Designed as low cost thermal modules for embedded and high-volume applications, it enables engineers to easily integrate thermal awareness into compact systems.

Rather than relying on visible light, SenXor modules detect long-wave infrared radiation (8–14 μm), enabling:

- Heat pattern detection
- Temperature mapping
- Thermal event monitoring

This allows systems to detect temperature variations independent of ambient lighting conditions, making it suitable for both day and night operation and environments where visibility is limited.

Typical use cases

- Predictive maintenance
- Overheating detection
- Presence & occupancy sensing
- Condition monitoring
- Energy optimization

Thermal sensing is well suited for applications requiring non-contact measurement, lighting-independent operation, and compact integration.
